Bentley

Appearances: All Games

The brains of the original Cooper Gang. Bentley is the master strategist of the gang and often plans the heists. He also uses his unique tech when in the field for combat, and although he was paralyzed and bound to a wheelchair after the 2nd game his optimism and love for the gang never wavered.

Carmelita Fox

Appearances: All Games

Inspector Fox is a member of INTERPOL (police force). With this she developed a feud with Sly and the Gang through numerous failed attempts to arrest them. The relationship between the two wasn’t always bad however, as Carmelita would side with the Cooper Gang if a larger evil ever arose. She even develops a romantic relationship with Sly after convincing him he was her partner after he suffered “amnesia” at the end of the third game.

Dimitri Lousteau

Appearances: Sly 2 (Villain), Sly 3, Thieves in Time (minor)

After his villainous ways in the 2nd game, Dimitri is found working at a bar at the ACES flying competition in the 3rd game. He strikes a deal to help the Cooper Gang for a favor, which turned out to be getting back his grandfather’s diving equipment. After helping Dimitri get it back, he would use it to assist them in the final mission and become a friend of the gang. In Thieves in Time Dimitri had no dialogue but was seen in cutscenes as the defender of the Thievius Raccoonus as the Gang time traveled.

The Guru

Appearances: Sly 3

A shaman from the Australian Outback. The Guru is who Murray went to in seek of guidance after the events of the 2nd game. The gang would eventually have to save the Guru from confinement after his staff and stone were stolen. He would then assist the Cooper Gang through the rest of the game, with his wisdom and abilities making him a valuable ally.

Murray

Appearances: All Games

The brawn of the original Cooper Gang. Murray went from being the getaway driver and terrified in the field being protected by Sly, to being the groups powerhouse for the rest of the series. Although Murray would experience moments of self-doubt such as his brief departure from the gang after he felt like he put them in danger, or his jealousy of Bob. However, Murray is always reassured by his friends and views the gang as family.

Panda King

Appearances: Sly 1 (Villain), Sly 3

It’s unsure how the Panda King escaped from prison after his actions in the first game, but the gang finds him in the 3rd living as a monk in seclusion, exiled after the abduction of his daughter. The group was in search of a explosive/demolitions expert for the final job and thought Panda King was their only option, but he wasn’t on board after his previous humiliation at the hands of Sly, and Sly was reluctant because of Panda King’s role in his father’s murder. However, after a conversation with the Guru, he agrees to help the Cooper Gang if they assist in his daughter’s rescue.

Penelope

Appearances: Sly 3, Thieves in Time (Villain)

The gang first got contact from Penelope online, while in search of an RC specialist for the 3rd game’s final job. Penelope told the gang she was a mechanic for the Black Baron in the ACES competition and that he would need to be defeated before she could assist them, however she turned out to be the Black Baron herself. Joining after her own defeat, she would assist the gang for the rest of the game and develop a romantic relationship with Bentley.

Rioichi Cooper

Appearances: Thieves in Time

Rioichi was the first ancestor of Sly the gang encountered on their trip through time. Rioichi lived in feudal Japan and is credited with inventing sushi as well as the spire jump, which is one of the most used moves in the games. He is also known for being one of Sly’s most wise and skilled ancestors. The gang had to free and aid him after he had been locked up after being framed for feeding the Shogun poisoned sushi.

Bob Cooper

Appearances: Thieves in Time

Another of Sly’s ancestors the gang meets in Thieves in Time. Bob is believed by the gang to be the very first member of the Cooper Clan, as they found him in prehistoric times and that they also couldn’t understand his name which led to Sly giving him the name of Bob. Bob was known for stealing eggs and food to provide for his tribe as a leader, before the Grizz time travelled and made these things more accessible with modern technology. No longer needed, Bob became depressed and out of shape before the gang arrived and got him back on the right track. (Bob is the only character not in alphabetical order due to Bob not being his real name, and he fits in better amongst his ancestors.)

Salim Al-Kupar

Appearances: Thieves in Time

This Cooper ancestor was discovered by the gang a little past his prime. Once depicted in previous games as a tall muscular thief, the gang finds Salim much older which has made him very lazy. Sly and the gang found Salim in ancient Arabia, and found out that he was close to retirement before disturbances had put an end to those plans. After getting help from and assisting the gang, Salim was able to take the retirement he longed for.

Sir Galleth Cooper

Appearances: Thieves in Time

This ancestor of the Cooper Clan is from Medieval England. Sir Galleth Cooper is also a Knight to go along with being a thief and is a member of the Knights of the Cooper Order. Like his other ancestors in Thieves in Time, Galleth had been held captive after his cane had been stolen, resulting in him needing the assistance of the gang so that he could help the gang himself and get his revenge on the Black Knight.

Sly Cooper

Appearances: All Games

The main protagonist of the games. Sly Cooper is the latest descendant of the Cooper Clan after his father was murdered by Clockwerk and the Fiendish Five in the first game. This resulted in Sly going to an orphanage where he would meet Bentley and Murray and become best friends for life. The three of them would form the beloved Cooper Gang and perform numerous heists together even beginning at the orphanage for a jar of cookies. After an attack at the end of the 3rd game Sly was believed to have Amnesia but was revealed to be faking it to form his relationship with Carmelita. Sly had to drop the act during the events of Thieves in Time to help his ancestors and save his family history. Sly would make a sacrifice play in the end, resulting in him being stranded in what appeared to be Ancient Egypt.

Tennessee Kid Cooper

Appearances: Thieves in Time

This Cooper ancestor comes from the old wild west. With enthusiasm and confidence (borderline cockiness) in bunches. Tennessee Kid’s vintage Cooper cane is also a gun, making him quite unique. He is also the inventor of the rail slide move which is quite used by Sly throughout the games. Like his other ancestors found by the gang, Tennessee had been captured with his cane/gun stolen, needing the assistance of the gang and his ancestor from the future.
